Spicy Holiday Cocktail Party

Rock it like it’s hot with this festive menu

The holidays are a great excuse to gussy up and be jolly. But with a slew of same-old, same-old gatherings, getting motivated can be difficult. So the food and drink at CHOW’s cocktail party is a reprieve from the sea of spinach dips, cheese balls, and vodka crans. Simultaneously pan-Asian and pan-Latin, the menu items all have a hint of spice or heat, though nothing here will burn your tongue off. Invite a few friends over (these recipes serve 10 to 12 people), throw together the cocktails (one’s hot to warm you through, while the other’s cold to counteract any spiciness), and turn on the tunes (see the iMix below). Save the coffee shots for later, when you need a second wind: The jolt of caffeine and alcohol will pick you up so you can get down.
