Two More Top Chefs Down

Hard Knox for Marisa; bare pantry for Josie

After last week’s “Top Chef,” in which grave accusations of larding the recipes with extra calories (the chefs were cooking at a camp for overweight kids) were thrown around, none of the contestants were axed.

So this week, the judges evened up the score, taking down two chefs: Marisa Churchill and Josie Smith Malave. Joyce Slaton talks with both of them.

Marisa—perhaps more famous now for her bikini calendar than for her performance on Top Chef—discusses using her sexuality on the show, the panna cotta disaster, and the infamous lychee scandal. Meanwhile, Josie, who “has many black friends,” sets the record straight on her southern cred—cobbler is regional, not racial!

Would it be possible to have transcripts of podcasts available as an alternative viewing option?

It's not uncommon to make desserts like milkshakes with avocado. It's not that gross. Aren't you a food journalist? Shouldn't you know this already, or at least be open-minded about seemingly unusual use of ingredients?

As a pastry chef as she is suppose to be, she made some stupid mistakes with pastry. Most of the time when she made pastry is didnt taste well, now that doesnt make much sense. oh and they knew they had free food. but then she points fingers. Yeah normal high maintance woman. go figure.

Joyce, avocado ice cream is very big in the Filipino community. Your "yuck, gross" attitude is just ignorant and very offensive. Just because Caucasian Americans have not tried a food doesn't make the food offensive. All your comment shows is that you may not have done a lot of traveling and you definitely have not done much experimenting outside of what the culinary world dictates to you is an appropriate dish.

What do you think?
