She's a good interviewer with a refreshingly dry opinion. I don't mind the occassional barbs at all ; )

wow. Having an opinion versus being judgmental are two different things. This individual needs a lesson in a) taking the high road b) business etiquette. I certainly wouldn't want her in my kitchen. Not only can't she cook something simple, she has as bad an attitude as any of the 3 lowest in last night's episode. Good riddance.

Her excuse (and several others on this show - in both seasons) of being used to cooking for fine dining establishments, and thus unable to "stoop" down to a lower level of cooking, is pathetic.

I'd love for her to say that to real cooks who make "family meals" in fine dining establishments - dishes reminiscent of their native land but using the "excess" (aka unwanted) food from prep.

OMG! Can someone GET any more condescending towards her coworkers and customers? Ye Gods woman - eat some humble pie - you so desperately need it! But then again, since you only cook in 3 & 4 star restaurants, you probably don't know how to make humble pie, do you?

Her judgmental comments towards the woman who said her ice cream needed more sugar ("grossly overweight and missing a few teeth") showed she has no real-world life experience. There but for the grace of God goes Emily!

She says that she works with Stephen from Season 1 at Nob Hill in LV - the fact that both of them have the same condescending, snotty "better than thou" attitude towards their customers and coworkers says a lot, doncha think?

Sour grapes, Emily, for getting kicked off early? Methinks yes. But then, since you're up on your lofty pedestal way above the common rabble, you probably don't think so.

I am astonished by how obsequious this interviewer was with her line of questioning. "You were robbed?!" Give me a break! I did notice, however, how she slyly got Emily to make even further disparaging comments about the lady who didn't like her icecream, and thus dig herself a deeper hole.

So, was Emily implying that there was no way her food was too salty and it was all about the (admittedly lousy-sounding) working conditions? ALL her dishes were deemed too salty by the entire panel. Was that a lie?

Then, when Emily commented that the other contestants all tasted each others icecream, and she even tasted one guy's TGIF dish, why didn't this interviewer take the opportunity to ask Emily what the other chefs thought of the salt level of her food?

Yes, Emily comes across as a misanthropic monster in this interview, but I did feel the interviewer could have been more rigorous with her questioning and less pandering to her subject.

I can get the Otto, Tom & Suyai interviews to play, but the interview with Emily is truncated...

why does she have to dis Los Angeles? i mean, she works in Las Vegas for god's sake.

This woman is so ridiculous. She makes excuses for her failure. Because her food was too salty? So salty people couldn't even eat it, including the editor of Food & Wine magazine? This was so hard to listen to. I'm incredibly glad that she got kicked off. Good riddance.

Other people who need to go: Marissa, Marcel, Elia, and Mike.

I hope Betty wins.

Emily (and consequently Steven from season one), please please please - for your sake - get off your high horse. Food is for eating and if no one wants to eat your food 'cause it's too salty or it's not sweet enough, you've failed as a chef.

i dont have any problem with her perceived arrogance. she is a professional with extensive experience, and it doesnt seem like her statements are meant to put anyone down. it seems like they are simply truthful observation, and i like the fact that she is bold enough to say what she thinks. food is definitely for eating, hers was probably way overseasoned, and comfort food isnt excluded from gourmet menus - her fault was not being creative enough and thinking she had to make something typical rather than innovative. however i highly doubt it was grounds for dismissal, and she was likely let go because she didnt have the dramatic personality to create conflict. she definitely has the talent to win. i hope she does very well in her career.

Could this woman be a little more of a Witch???? Geez - the fact that she refers to the TGI Friday R&D guy as a "hack" makes her seem poorly educated about "other" food-related careers. Most R&D folks have science degrees and follow a career path in that direction. She chooses to be a chef & he choses to do R&D - that does NOT make him a hack! I am glad she go booted - she is annoying!

She is incredibly condescending towards the show, the chefs, the challenges. She really lacks a whole bunch of self-esteem. She probably thought that because of her background, she had a leg up on these contestants.

Emily, you need to take a real good look in the mirror before you start making comments about Padma's cellulite or the ice cream lady's fat ass. I think you're about twice the size of Padma, and you're not too far off from the ice cream lady yourself.

Sounds like SOMEONE is in a snitty mood

For someone who "doesn't have any problem with her perceived arrogance" you should definitely re-read your statemnent. You are saying that about someone that you call a "professional" but yet trashes the general public on national television. I don't really understand how you can use the word professional to describe someone of her level. Whatever, she may have had 7 years of cooking experience, that does not make up for the rediculous comments that she had to make for the people eating the disgusting ice cream she made (calming choclate?? BLAH! get some creativity!) SHE IS A LINE COOK! It is not even as if she has 7 years experience running a kitchen. NOB HILL IS NOT FINE DINING. I'm so glad she is gone!!! She mind as well work at McDonalds. She could salt the fries.

shes a hack

She said it: "If you can cook, you can stay. If you can't, you gotta go"

It couldn't be truer for this episode.

One might think that a person who is so obsessed with other people's appearance (the fat lady missing teeth, the greasy hack from TGIF...) might actually look in the mirror once in a while. You're kind of ugly, Emily, inside and out.

Oh, and Emily, too much sugar is bad for your health. But then, so is too much salt.

And I really wouldn't worry about you having to pay for that fat woman's health problems. Fact is that obesity is a plus for welfare, since people die before they can collect their pension.

Sorry, just reheard the bit about the TGIF guy: Emily describes him as "short and oily".

What do you think?
