» Seventh Hill Pizza

I had a disappointing dinner last night at Seventh Hill Pizza with a friend who lives near there. I got the Navy Yard (tomato, gray and bland Toulouse sausage, oregano, pecorino, mozzarella) and found it quite dry, with meager, skimpy toppings. The crust was thin -- cracker-like in places. I got the Navy Yard (tomato, gray and bland Toulouse sausage, oregano, pecorino, mozzarella) and found it quite dry, with meager, skimpy toppings. The crust was thin -- cracker-like in places. That isn't a problem in and of itself, but I found it rather tasteless. For me, the 8 inch pizza was too small - kind of a pizza snack, not a meal. My friend got the 7th Street (prosciutto, parmesan, roasted red pepper, tomato) and it looked better than mine. We got Orval Trappist beers, which were very good, and arugula / pecorino salads, also very good.

For this, we paid about $60.00. I thought our dinner was way overpriced for what it was - I'm not only speaking of food quality, but also in terms of ambience, which was severely lacking. There are four tiny packed tables jammed together near the door, one of which was crawling with toddlers. On no fewer than 4 occasions, we were interrupted by other patrons asking if we needed the extra stool at our table, which we didn't, so we gladly gave it up - again and again. We were also interrupted several times by, "Excuse me. What is that?" kinds of questions from people deciding what to order. As I was seeing someone I hadn't seen in quite a while and we were deeply involved in conversation, these continual interruptions were very annoying - but it's understandable, given that these tables are shoved so close together patrons are sitting on top of one another. My point is, if you want to have dinner with someone you really want to talk to, this isn't the place, as I now know.

I also think $60.00 is too much for a light dinner in a counter-service restaurant. We also had drinks, salads and desserts pushed at us hard by the people who work there, though they were pleasant about it.

If I lived in the neighborhood, I'd give it another shot - for take-out pizza to eat at home. However, I don't think it's worth a special trip for anyone who doesn't live near Eastern Market. Mia's, Pizzaria Paradiso, Red Rocks and Comet Ping Pong are all better.-COLLAPSE

Went Today, good stuff. I got the 7th street.
A little pricy for an 8" pizza, but this is DC.
