good to know
Fairfax Scoop is a great little shop.
The ice cream is made with high butterfat organic milk and cream, organic ingredients, and only a bit of egg (less than 1% in the base) as emulsifier, these have intense flavor and a decadent richness that satisfies the ice cream craving.
When possible they use sustainable evaporated cane juice as a sweetener and local, organic ingredients. Strauss ice cream mix is the base for the ice creams.
With a single scoop you can get 1-2 flavors. Thwill give two flavors per scoop and the scoops are generous ... two scoops ... four flavors. Two waffle machines make fresh waffle conesey make their own waffle cone. .
Honey Vanilla Lavender – WOW. The flavor is layered. It starts off with a nice bit of lavender, transitions into a mellow honey flavor, and finishes with a smooth, creamy vanilla.
Strawberry – Think of strawberry sorbet, the fresh kind that has a wonderful fruity crispness to it. Add some cream to it, and you’ve got the Scoop’s strawberry ice cream. A little on the sweet side but it’s still quite good.
Green Gulch pumpkins are used for the ice cream and the flavor is so true, pure, fresh and pumpkin-y with the perfect blend of spicing. It is nice with a scoop of brown sugar pecan which tastes exactly as it sounds, wonderful..
The ginger is excellent with pieces of ginger in it that were not overpowering.
There is also a soy-based ice cream.
Recommended: honey vanilla lavender, strawberry, rum raisin, pumpkind, brown sugar, ginger
Misses: chocolate & chocolate hazelnut
A few tables inside, but there is also a bench outside and along the sidewalk
