My breakfast at Balthazar, one of my favs in world, is a panier ( Their name for a multi bread basket ) easily serving two and crusts of a miche and lots of their excellent coffee, a good companion, and a good book if need be. Do it every time l overnight in Manhattan. It helps one of my kids lives two blocks away. REPLY (10 Replies) (by Delucacheesemonger, created February 2, 2012)

»Perfect for Breakfast

Power breakfast that is. Whether buckwheat pancakes or an herb omelette, Balthazar is a perfect way to start a Manhattan morning. But the real star here is the place itself. Faux French Brasserie maybe, but the ambiance and service really do complement the food and you never forget you're in NYC. Opening a version in London soon so can't wait for that. Keen's is great, another option would be Balthazar, which serves salads, shrimp cocktail and several steak options, including Cote du Boeuf (for two) which is a steak eater's dream. It's a fun, celebratory place and there are plenty of delicious non-steak options as well. REPLY (4 Replies) (by TrishUntrapped, created September 25, 2011)

Dinner with three friends. Their LI oysters for some reason are my favorite anywhere, always freshly shucked, juicy and very plump. They blew away the ones l had at lunch that day at grand Central Oyster Bar. We had a bottle of a '95 Muscadet with them, perfect. Two of us had the Cotes du Boeuf for 2 and as with Minetta Tavern, my pick for best Cotes in country, prepared perfectly. One person had the Berkshire pork tenderloin as the Tuesday special and it came with a veg side that was so extraordinary he reordered it as a side dish again. We had a fabulous time, always love every second there. Their brandade de morue and calves liver are also stellar, liver only for lunch.-COLLAPSE / REPLY (9 Replies) (by Delucacheesemonger, created September 16, 2011)

I was there for dinner 2 weeks ago and had an amazing time. Jam packed, so get there early. We had the seafood plateau, the grilled octopus and a few side dishes. Desserts were great too...I had not been in years, but it has remained consistent. REPLY (9 Replies) (by taboo, created September 15, 2011)
