»Elegant presentation and Excellent Quality

Upon arrival, we were greeted cordially by a hostess and immediately after, the bartender. After checking in our coats, the hostess led us to our table where our waiter welcomed us with a brief introduction on how the dinner works.
The decor was pleasant: classical music in the background and the drapes in the ceiling accentuated the place with exoticism. Lack of attention to detail was not evidenced - from the small ribbons wrapped around the unused tissue to the courteous wait staff to the right level of music to the elegant presentations and quality of the food.
Waiter was extremely knowledgeable and cognizant of how food should be prepared according to the instructions of the chef.
We proceeded to a three course menu (choices are 3 to 5 courses) and from the appetizer to the dessert, we were surprised by many factors: the elegant presentation, variety of small portions included in each course, quality and freshness of the food. Each course was explained in succinct detail; below is what we ordered:
Appetizer: Seared watermelon caviar; pan seared artisan foie gras
Dinner: Wild jumbo prawns with brioche crust; boneless quail stuffed with ris de veau, presented with roasted parsnips
Dessert: Can't remember, but each dessert was accompanied with various other desserts
Drinks: San Pelligrino mineral water & double shot espresso with cream on the side (best coffee we've had). It came with various pastries (madeleines, truffle, etc.)
Overall excellent experience, except my husband decided to go with a 3, instead of a 4-course menu b/c the chef was adamant about how certain meat is prepared and was extremely reluctant to cook it any other way. Our experience was not tarnished from this incident and we even thought that, perhaps, Fleur de Lys was the excellent restaurant b/c of such unyielding passion.-COLLAPSE
»Absolutely WONDERFUL!
Fleur De Lys is our favorite place to have French cuisine in San Francisco.
The decor is beautiful - gold touches, soft, plush seating and spa-like co-ed bathrooms.
The service is impeccable. A server once took my plate when I wasn't done (he asked if I was, but I thought he asked me if it was good!) and they quickly asked me if I wanted the dish again, free of charge. Marcus, the wine...+READ

The service is impeccable. A server once took my plate when I wasn't done (he asked if I was, but I thought he asked me if it was good!) and they quickly asked me if I wanted the dish again, free of charge. Marcus, the wine director, is a pleasure to chat with and is extremely helpful in choosing a wine. Boris and Gabriella are 2 waiters who usually serve us - they are both very friendly and efficient.
The food is rich and delicious! We usually stick with our favorites which are the foie gras appetizers, sweetbreads with a poached egg (our personal favorite - very rich and creamy!) and filet mignon & foie gras (cooked to perfection with a beautifully seared foie gras on top). I've tried the lobster and mac & cheese before and it was good, but not one my favorite dish. I We've been here on our anniversary and the complimentary dessert was the perfect touch to a perfect dinner!
If you happen to catch Chef Hubert Keller on the days he is working, he will personally come out towards the end of the night and say hello to EVERY single diner there. He is very sweet, humble and has nothing but nice things to say about everything!
Most of the foods are rich and I find that most people are surprised or turned off by this. When you're splurging on a delicious dinner, such as Fleur De Lys, calories shouldn't matter! Be prepared to spend at least $200 for 2 people (excluding drinks).
The food, the people, the decor...everything at Fleur De Lys is outstanding. I highly recommend Fleur De Lys!-COLLAPSE
