What we ate
3 Cheese selection & Aged Sausage ($12.95) B+
Nice platter with a selection of Cow, goat, and sheep cheese that we slected. Plus some cured meat and accompaniments including bread, olive, fruit. I truthfully don't know why people end their meal with cheese - usually by that time the thought of cheese before dessert makes me queasy. We had this to start and it was nice.
Soup: Beet Soup w/ Creme Fraiche ($7.25) A
Fantastic. Funny enough I can't remember if it was served hot or cold (i think cold) - but either way it was great.
Grass fed Steak Tartare ($13.50) B
tradional with raw egg, caperberries, lavender sea salt, toast
Slightly on the salty side -- and I LOVE salt -- in the restaurants defense the portion came with lavender sea salt on the side and that caused me to add more. I did share with the waitress that the pieces of meat were slightly ununiform - some pieces were cut much larger than others so it made for some strange bites. I can only imagine how she wanted to roll her eyes at me, but she did say they welcome feedback.
Pastis scented steamed mussels in garlic leeks, herbs, garlic bread with Matchstick fries ($17.95) A
Really great, huge portion of mussels, cooked perfectly with these skinny fries that stole the show. Fiancee was thrilled with her order and I was too as she couldn't finish it all.
Duck Confit, one leg - garlic & Parsley roasted French fingerling potatoes ($13.95) B+
My second awkaward encounter with waitress came here -- when i received the dish, i was confused - i thought i was getting a duck confit sandwich (the dish was listed under Petits Plats & snadwichs) -- missed / didn't quite understand that Petit Plats meant small plate. Regardless the duck was well executed, crispy skinned and enjoyable.-COLLAPSE
