While a concierge may point a tourist here, it is not a regular dining spot for locals. Rose Pistola has been brilliant at times and at other times abysmal. It is Russian roulette dining here. (by rworange, created December 17, 2009)

We were primed for a fine meal having traveled the day prior and biked over the Golden Gate that day. Recommended by our concierge, this place was great. Recommended by our concierge, this place was great. Well-designed, furnished and lit, with a warmth that was almost too much from the fire grill/oven in the middle of the dining area, this place delivered a great vibe. The food was remarkable. Appetizers featured a grilled sardine dish, zucchini flowers lightly fried and a classic caprese salad, all of which were very well-received at our table. Main courses of a herb and butter flavored flattened chicken, a 'perfect' pork chop, braised swordfish and blackened snapper were more than ample and very nicely done. We weren't able to fathom dessert but we did enjoy a feature espresso/grappa item called a coronetto. Price was reasonable-COLLAPSE (by Gary Graham, created October 4, 2009)
