I will second the Slofish recommendation. Very nice people and inventive dishes. The best deal is lunch. You can get an excellent spicy seafood ramen for $6. Also try the braised short ribs. I think they are $8 and come with rice and a salad. It’s as good as any $25 plate elsewhere. Another great spot in HB is La Choza Mexican rest. Other than that it is kind of a wasteland.-COLLAPSE / REPLY (31 Replies) (by kelsos1, created March 24, 2010)

We arrived at 12:15 and we were the only ones dining there on a Tuesday at lunch.
We ordered 3 "small plates" that were nicely priced at $6-$8 each, but the food was not even worthy of the small price. And, the short ribs tasted like any other ordinary short rib joint.
In case you have to try it (don't) we ordered #9 Shrimp in a pastry dough filled with cream cheese and covered in a sweet and sour sauce, #10 the tempura soft shell crab again, with the same sauce, stuffed jalepenos with spicy tuna and again, the same sauce.-COLLAPSE
