Visited DC this weekend and wanted to have a great dining experience. Price was not a consideration....looking for great ambience and even better food and on overall special DC dining experience. We were directed to Old Ebbit from some enthusiastic interns in the Capitol Buidling.
Could not have been more disappointed. I ordered a grilled pork chop that had some cheap bbq sauce spooned over the top. Almost tasted microwaved. Came with a cornbread casserole that sounded fabulous....could not have had less flavoring....do they even use salt and pepper in their recipes?... Stouffers Frozen would have be far superior. Actually, my first clue was the appetizer. The fried oyster stew had tough little fried small oysters floating in a cup sized "bowl" of skim milk consistency flavored with a sweetner such as sugar. No layers, no depth, no anything except expensive prices with very flat recipes. Two stars for this place is overly generous, but it was slightly better than an elementary school cafeterial. It gets a generous one star...but the prices approach 4 stars :(-COLLAPSE

Great menu with wide variety of items, reasonable prices, cool crowd, and some old world charm. The food was delicious and the service was very good.
