I wanted to get back to everyone. Artisanal was good, everyone was happy.
It was very loud though, I had asked for a corner table, thinking it may have been a bit quieter. Needless to say we were in the middle of the noisy room. My budget was blown, with the added gratuity for a party of 6+, lunch was $90 pp. We ordered 2 bottles of Sancerre and 2 desserts. Oh well, I guess it's the holidays for...+READ

»Went to Artisanal for Thanksgiving-NEVER AGAIN!!!

Was one of the worst meal experiences in my life! Decided on that because i read somewhere they did a nice Thanksgiving. I felt I was being served peasant food!!! Granted it was a prix fixe which I was told beforehand-the stuffing tasted like a scouring pad and the service was so pathetic I returned my meal. Granted it was a prix fixe which I was told beforehand-the stuffing tasted like a scouring pad and the service was so pathetic I returned my meal. One very annoying thing was that one of my guest wanted a slice of ham which was on kid's menu and I asked manager if I could order a slice. He said he only had about ten slices (at opening time) and there might be a lot of kids coming-which made me think-what does that have to do with anything!!! All in all a very unpleasant experience and will be contacting establishment when I feel better. BTW-later on that evening went to Le Cirque spontaneously-and had the most amazing dinner-and guess what??!! They served complimentary ham to everyone because it was Thanksgiving!! I am a very frequent diner out and never will I go to Artisanal for Thanksgiving ever! In all fairness I order a cheese course off the menu and that was delish!-COLLAPSE / REPLY (by UES Mayor, created November 26, 2011)

I don't know if it's exacly what you are looking for but maybe Artisanal, it's a French Bistro, well known for it's cheese (fondues are great for a Autumn day) and their food is, IMO, very good. I know they take walk ins but this weekend is probably going to be tough everywhere. Also, "moderate" is a relative term so not sure if price point works for you. We went to Artisanal last Thanksgiving and had a fabulous meal. They offered traditional Thanksgiving menu and other choices. REPLY (8 Replies) (by Motosport, created September 28, 2011)

Surprised no one has mentioned Artisanal (2 Park Ave at 32nd) which has both bar seating and solo-friendly seating in the main diningroom. Superior brunch menu, fabulous cheeses, some unusual French-bistro type entrees. N.B. you can't get a drink (with alcohol) before noon in New York City so if you want to start with champagne or a cocktail like a bloody mary, plan accordingly. For casual dining, I've always liked Artisanal (their sister property). Great brunch! While Artisanal doesn't have a cheese cart, you can select from their extensive cheese menu for either individual cheeses, or cheese "flights". Artisanal also has a separate retail cheese counter where you can simply walk in and shop, or shop after your meal.
