»Excellent Food Reasonably Priced
This is a gem of a restaurant in Montreal. The food is fresh and delicious, the atmosphere is casual, and you will not break the bank by going there. This place seems to have a thing for foie gras, you can have it on a burger, a pizza, in a tart, and even in a poutine. True to their name, they have almost everything as far as a pig goes, including Roasted Pig's Head for 2. Try their Duck in a...+READ This is a gem of a restaurant in Montreal. This restaurant is at the forefront of Le Fooding movement!-COLLAPSE
»Vastly overrated - for tourists only
Bad food, terrible service, loud. A lot of the dishes are covered in a slick of duck fat, the restaurant reeks of it. Waitress couldn't describe what the fish of the day was (arctic char), served us a regular poutine instead of one with foie gras and refused to fix the mistake, some of the food was very lazily prepared (floating tomato skins in the sauce). The last straw was when we were refused dessert because they needed the table for another booking! This was my third and last time at this place. It's a tourist joint.-COLLAPSE

An unpleasant evening spent at PDC a few months ago. The waitress didn't know what kind of was fish arctic char, she described it as a white fleshed fish. I ordered the pied de cochon and it was smothered in a underseasoned tomato sauce that was more tomato skin than anything else. The tartare served temaki-style was a success, well flavoured and imaginatively presented. Everything else tasted like it was drowned in duck fat (which it probably was). This place has gone downhill a lot in the past year.-COLLAPSE

»ok food
ok food. Nothing much to say.
I've never had a bad meal at APdC and I like their way with fish actually. As Maximilien says, their daily specials, showcasing seasonal products (even vegetables), are wonderful and probably the best expression of their creativity. I'm dining there next week to see if reports of the restaurant's decline are true. And I'll let you know if they've started serving lychees. ;-) REPLY (12 Replies)
