Shake Shack

We're big fans of Shake Shack. The Madison Square Park location is the one we go to as it's just a few blocks from our apartment. However, we only go during the warm weather months because all seating is outdoors. While there are heat lamps, and people do sit out there druing the winter, you couldn't pay me enough to do that. It is a delightful park, and we love eating our burgers al fresco.

I see this is an old string but thought I'd add this. Haven't tried Sonic's but Shake Shack's isn't even close. A soggy mess. The closest I've gotten is to make them myself with local ingredients. No way to find Vienna franks or poppy seed buns in NYC, sadly. I use a Hebrew National dog (the reduced fat, actually -- NOT the low fat) which tastes the closest to Vienna to me. Then (here's the key) I sprinkle poppy seeds INSIDE the bun. Then yellow mustard, relish, chunky copped white onion (Vidalia usually) and a dill spear in that order. once you get past the ridiculous line, this is a great find. the burgers are delicious but would be nothing without their potato bread buns. definitely recommend the going at an off-peak hour to avoid the crowds. (by BanhMiLove, created October 4, 2009)
