good to know
The tableside guacamole, freshly squeezed margaritas and the camaron poblano asada are usually the topic of conversation when people in Austin are talking about Cantina Laredo. All of those are definitely worth the visit, but the restaurant seems to be very underrated. When looking at the menu there is such a large variety of items that cater to any individual.
Whether it be the traditional plates such as enchiladas or tacos, the seasonings are exquisite and authentic. Most entrees are extremely large, so unless you’re just going for appetizers, be ready to eat! They have amazing salads, excellent filets, ribeyes (they are owned by the same ppl that own 3 forks), and their pescado del dia is fresh and always prepared well. Fajitas guarantee to give other mexican restaurants competition and not to mention the fiesta grill that is available (shrimp, ribs, quail, carnitas and combo fajita meat).
The Camarones Escondidos (hidden shrimp) is a grilled chicken breast stuffed with shrimp, topped with sauteed spinach and a phenomenal chipotle wine sauce. Definitely one of my favorites.
It’s clear that this restaurant is very much overlooked and it is always a pleasant dining experience with friendly staff and management—
