What a serious disappointment. I've heard quite a lot about this truck, as well as California taco trucks and the ever-expanding Korean taco movement. I'd like to suggest that Seoul on Wheels is a poor ambassador for both things.

I tried Seoul on Wheels at the Friday-evening food truck extravaganza at Fort Mason. I tried Seoul on Wheels at the Friday-evening food truck extravaganza at Fort Mason. After waiting for forty minutes in an extremely long line, I proceeded to order the Chicken tacos, the tofu tacos, and a Chicken sammy. While I am willing to give Seoul on Wheels a bit of a pass (and hence the second star) due to the extreme pressure of cooking for thousands of people at a time. The food, all of it, was entirely flavourless and poorly cooked.

The chicken tacos were covered in a red sauce, had a few bits of chicken, and lots of lettuce. Lots, and lots, of lettuce. In fact, despite the drenching of sauce, the only taste was of lettuce. Iceburg lettuce. It was extremely boring.

The tofu tacos were no better, but at least the texture of the tofu stood in contrast to the lettuce, giving the bites at least some complexity.

The chicken sammy seemed to be Seoul on Wheel's version of a Vietnamese banh mi. Basically a chicken sandwich, it was on heavy, doughy white bread. Slopped with mayonnaise and more of the now ubiquitous red sauce, it only tasted of mayonnaise. Buttery, fatty, doughy. It was good, but also vaguely unpleasant.
