Been to Jalapenos twice. Just tried it again after rave reviews. Its OK, nothing more. Seems like Gringo Mexican food to me. Yes, they have an impressive list of meats that you don’t find everywhere but how good are they? I read rave reviews about the Carnitas. I found them way too dry, and certainly not the best in town, not even close. I’ll take Los Portillos and their amazing rigs (costillas)...+READ Been to Jalapenos twice. The now closed Guadalajara Grill had far better Carnitas. The service was pretty dysfunctional today. We never got our basket of chips. We asked for a tiny sample of the Mole to try (it never came). Getting your bill is an exercise in frustration. Too bad, with the great reviews and great appearing menu and decor, this place just doesn’t deliver. In a town like Santa Fe, where Mexican food is on every block, you can do much better than Jalapenos. Try Red Enchilada, Los Portillos, Los Amigos instead.-COLLAPSE
