»No hype, just really good food
The food at Chifa is delicious, even if the Peruvian-Cantonese pairing sounds unusual (the waiter told us that the Cantonese who emigrated to Peru reproduced their cuisine using Peruvian ingredients). Do yourself a favor and avoid the safe stuff (the reviewer who ordered red curry was asking for the neighborhood Thai experience). Philadelphia Magazine hit a bull's eye when they picked the pork buns as best new dish of the year. It's a pork twist on peking duck and truly crave-worthy. The Chaufa had us scraping the bottom of the bowl (it's sort of like an Indonesian nase goreng). The justly famous curried goat is so tender as to put slow-cooked lamb to shame, even if the sauce is a bit rich--although that may be because they served it towards the end when we were getting full. The octopus was recommended to us by our waiter and we found it to be the least remarkable dish (agree with the first reviewer, a little chewy).
The decoration and atmosphere are nice too. I'd like to go there with a big group and order one of everything.-COLLAPSE

I've enjoyed Amada immensely and was really expecting to like Chifa, too. We visited there on a Thursday night, without reservations and were lucky enough to get a table. We got octopus and ceviche for starters, and immediately could tell something was off. The octopus was chewy and the ceviche was a morsel lost in a cup of fluid. The entrees - goat and beef tenderloin - were surprisingly...+READ I've enjoyed Amada immensely and was really expecting to like Chifa, too. They did have some nice special bread things, though.-COLLAPSE
»definitely not worth it
Went to chifa last night with 3 couples- had the Midprice tasting menu- $65 pp! Was expecting innovative peruvian asian cuisine- unfortunately it was like the local thai restaurant for some dishes and like a chinese take out place in some dishes. I could have made the thai red curry myself using a Trader Joe's bottle and some tofu. Only good dish was the lobster noodle dish. Greasy salty food.-COLLAPSE
