The best meal I had in 2011 was at Frankie's 457 on Court St (technically Carroll Gardens). We had the Frankie's Antipasto for starters. I don't live there anymore, but I know that Sahadi's is still the best place to get hummus, baba ganhouj and olives!

Back in the day, Tripoli was an amazing restaurant. Right on the corner of Atlantic and Clinton.-COLLAPSE

»Lunch at Frankie's 457 in Brooklyn

I had heard about it in Sam Sifton's finale food review. I went with one other friend and we sat at the bar. Ordered two German Pilsners (no domestic beers) and the antipasto plate. Four or five different meets, sliced see thru thin a few olives, some marinated mushrooms and broccoli rabe and some cheese. Basically a few nibbles for each before the entree. Very nice. perfect for two to share. They also presented us with bread and some of their homemade olive oil for dipping.

For our entrees, I had the homemade Papardelle with braised lamb, tomato, tarragon and live oil and my buddy had the pork braciola marinara. Let me first say that the portions were perfect for lunch. we both shared some of ours and thank goodness. The pork braciola was so flavorful and tender. The sauce was perfect. Truly one of the best marinara sauces I've tasted. Bursting with tomato flavor, but lacking the usual acidity. My lamb was absolutely, positively one of the best meals I've had in a restaurant this year. Absolutely delicious. The sauce was out of this world and in no way overpowered the lamb. It also clung well to the ever so light pasta. We passed on dessert, but we were given recommendations from another customer.

The service was impeccable and the friendly. The bartender chatted with us the entire time and was very quick to answer any questions. The place was spotless and quaint, but we were told they do get busy for dinner. It had a decent lunch crowd, but it was also a rainy miserable day, so that probably cut the numbers down. I highly recommend this to anyone passing through or living in Brooklyn.-COLLAPSE
