I love the old vibe in this place, I've been going there for years, it's got a certain lovely patina of age. Tasty, reasonably priced German grub, fun people, great atmosphere. And of course, the BEER! I've partaken in a few "boots" of my own. I'm happy that it's been there so long, I hope it stays there another 50 years or more!
I was at the Red Lion last weekend for drink and ordered their pretzel. Not a huge one, but it was warm, fluffy and nicely salted. Perfect accompaniment for a nice glass of Spaten Oktoberfest.
Also, Red Lion feels more central to the city than the stuff in Venice and The Valley if you're not up for the drive.
