good to know
I was super excited to have a restaurant in Havre de Grace that served more than just seafood or pizza. The lack of ethnic cuisine in the area is laughable. But I am sad to report that Qurros Burritos does not fill the void.
My first impressions were certainly not good when I spied a sign on the door that said they do not accept credit cards. Luckily I am a local and my bank was just down the street so I could mosey on over to get some cash.
The second disappointment came when I realized that they do not serve alcohol. This is not a deal breaker, but I enjoy a luscious margarita with my burritos. And I fully understand that there is a process in which one obtains a liquor license, and it can be long and drawn out. No fault to the restaurant.
My third disappointment came with the menu...it was so small. Sure, there are only about 5 main ingredients in the Mexican cuisine, but the endless possibilities of those ingredients are what draws me in. The menu at Quiros Burritos was simply a joke.
Food
I ordered a chicken burrito while my dining partner got the special of a Chimichanga.
When our food arrived mine was wrapped in tin foil. UGH! As I unwrapped it I found that the entire flour tortilla stuck to the foil, leaving me with a soupy mess of shredded chicken, tomatoes, lettuce, sour cream, beans and rice to pick out with my fork.
My partner’s Chimichanga was fair, we both enjoyed it, as mine was not appetizing.
Atmosphere
It looks to be a cross between a bad art gallery and a Mexican restaurant. It was brightly colored, which I found appealing, but the spattering of art work all over the walls was annoying.
Mexican music played softly in background, which I also liked.
Price
Most of the menu is fairly priced. But the cheese Quesadilla was way too expensive. At other Mexican joints I can get a Quesadilla for the less and it comes with a meat.
Staff
Our waiter could not be more lethargic. He was dressed as if he was ready to go to the skate park, not serve food. He barely checked on us and we were literally the only patrons in the entire place. Left a lot to be desired.
Overall
I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone! There are plenty of other joints in Havre de Grace where one can get a decent meal, with a great wait staff. And if you really are in the mood for Mexican then hop in your car and go to La Tolteca in Bel Air.
