»The best soup!

It's cold today and I was in the neighbourhood, so I went into Caribbean Bistro, s few blocks north of Eglinton on Yonge. I ordered the Chicken Soup - it comes in a big bowl, steaming hot. It's lovely and thick, long tasty bits of chicken, pieces of potato and dumpling. It's got a hint of spicy heat, but it's all smoothed out with some coconut milk which makes it just a bit sweet. I highly recommend it! And next time I'm going to try the other soups on the menu: Dhal (split pea) and lentil.-COLLAPSE / REPLY (by poetdeb, created November 17, 2011)

I’ve been to a lot of the top Caribbean restaurants in the city, Albert’s, Jerk Spot, etc but this one’s my favourite. The hot sauce is flavourful and not at all like that Frank’s Red Hot junk…I think it’s a homemade recipe and makes a HUGE difference in their recipes. Then again…they’ll ask how hot you want your dishes, so you don’t have to worry about getting your tongue burned off…UNLESS that’s what you’re into! The staff are extremely nice and don’t be afraid to ask for advice on menu items if it’s your first time going…I guarantee there’s something there you’ll love!-COLLAPSE (by warrick9, created May 15, 2011)

This has to be my favourite Caribbean food restaurant EVER. The owner, Sheila, makes everything from scratch, and you can taste the quality in every bite. My favourite dish is the Jerk Chicken (so tasty), and her Rotis are killer, too, robust and full of good stuff, not watery and limp like many places I've tried. Her homemade pepper sauce trumps all, full of flavour and heat...I buy bottles of...+READ This has to be my favourite Caribbean food restaurant EVER. Her homemade pepper sauce trumps all, full of flavour and heat...I buy bottles of it to take home, I love it so much. My girlfriend's favourite is the Jerk Chicken roti (try getting that somewhere else!). This is regular spot for us. Give it a try, you won't be disappointed!-COLLAPSE (by hotsaucelover, created January 8, 2011)

My friend who is from Jamaica is very fussy about 'bland' Canadian restaurant food. Well! I was determined to prove to her that I could find a place that she would love. She enjoyed herself so much, she's been there with me TWICE - and we can't wait to go back again. We both had the hearty chicken soup, and while my friend had the oxtail dinner, I had the curried beef dinner on a bed of rice with salad, (and I took home a curried beef roti for my husband). My friend was delighted with the owner's 'magic hot sauce' while I was happy the food was savoury and flavourful without being too hot. The owner is warm and friendly, which made us feel right at home. And my husband was also very pleased with his takeout dinner from The Carribean Bistro.-COLLAPSE (by Joycie Singer D'Aprile, created December 15, 2009)

»Great food and great owner!

My husband and I had dinner there recently... I had the shrimp roti (wonderful and so filling!) and my husband had the oxtail dinner. The food was great, spiced just right and service was very quick.
The place is run by a lady from Trinidad who is very sweet and talks to her customers to make sure everybody enjoys the food.
