Finally got to Toro last night for something other than a late night glass of wine.

DC and I arrived before 7, and had a relatively short wait for a table (40 minutes.) We enjoyed a nice glass of Temperanillo (Artadi) and Chardonnay (Nekeas Vega Sindoa) while waiting at bar.

Scene was a little hectic, especially when some hoodie-wearing 20-somethings barged (and I do mean barged) through the masses to meet friends and later nearly caused a fray when some bar seats became available.

We started with the Queso Mahon, Nnce, lemony diced cubes of mild cow's milk cheese. That was a good starter before the showstoppers - Atun Crudo, incredibly fresh yellowfin with just the right amount of fermented black beans and ginger, the griddled shimp in a garlicky, saffron infused dairy-based sauce, and Anna's empanadas, a really nice version with a delicious aioli on the side. The hangar steak finished our meal and was delightful.

All in all, Toro lived up to my expectation - always a good thing!-COLLAPSE
