The Cheeseburger at Wolfgang's is world class.

The Value: The enormous cheeseburger (I could only eat 1/2), fries, and rings was only $14. It was enough for 2 meals--my leftovers were enough for dinner. Considering the quality and sheer volume of food, it was a very good value. While I kept the vegetables on the side, I made a point of sampling them. The tomatoes at Wolfgang's Steakhouse were completely respectable. Chef Cid clearly took the time to inspect his own produce.

Burger Review : This was the best cheeseburger that we have tried in Los Angeles. The burger at Umami tasted clever and "photoshopped" when compared to the powerful, honest flavors in the burger at Wolfgang's Steakhouse. Wolfgang Zwiener and Chef Gonzales....we salute you, and we thank you for setting the bar in Los Angeles when it comes to excellence in burgers.

There were five other parties and the noise in the room was deafening. Not too conducive for fine dining. We had read all the hype about how the meat quality was so great and decided it was still worth a try. We are always trying to fine a place that has perfectly primed steaks.

We sat with menus for ten minutes before the waiter came to the table. We observed him laughing and talking to some young ladies. We finally ordered salad to start and asked for a wine list. A busboy came by and gave us some water. Then we waited another ten minutes and we ordered our wine. Shortly thereafter, our salads were dropped off at the table. We soon discovered that we had no silverware. We looked around trying to get someone’s attention and finally they brought us the utensils. The salads were tasty, but nothing to brag about and we really wanted to have some bread to accompany the salads. We received the bread, but not until after we had consumed the salads and there was still no wine. The basket had two types of rolls but they were cold and nothing special.

Another waiter delivered our Porterhouse Steak. He was very efficient and portioned it out on our plates. We also ordered sautéed mushrooms, creamed spinach, and a large baked potato. The menu neglected to say that there were onions along with the mushrooms. They were okay but too greasy. The spinach was far too salty to eat. Now for the steak…….. It looked beautiful on the plate and was rare inside with a lovely browning on the outside. The meat was strangely tender, but had no dry aged beef flavor. What a disappointment! This definitely was not worth the money we paid. Oh, by the way, we finally received the wine after the steak was served. In addition, the baked potato was served a meager amount of chives and sour cream considering the potato was the best part of the meal.

We were terribly disappointed in this meal altogether. The waiter was poorly trained and the food was not worth the price. I would have rather eaten a steak at Taylor’s or The Pacific Dining Car. We left the place without being satisfied for the taste we had been seeking. You would think that on a non-busy night we could have gotten better service and the promised dry aged prime steak that is advertised. MY advice “DON’T WASTE YOUR MONEY.”-COLLAPSE
