good to know

Crocodile lounge is a great bar, fun atmosphere lacking in any theme gimmick, except of course: free fu*king pizza!

We sauntered in knowing of the pizza catch but having no idea of how exactly it worked. We each ordered a drink and with it came a smile from our fantastic bartender and a raffle ticket. Sipping on very well priced drinks: a good selection of $5 brews (run of the mill domestics and a pretty good Croc Lager on tap), all normal well drinks are a mere $6 (by New York and most other standards that is below average), and shots that didn’t break the bank either, laid a perfect ground work for a care-free evening befriending the staff and enjoying each other’s company.

Hunger arises between elixirs and the pizza becomes far too inviting. A short journey towards a crowd in the harshly lit back of the bar reveals a small pizza counter with a couple guys slinging personal pans at break neck speed. It is entitled ‘free’ but tips are demanded with a bang of the tip jar and a point of a flour covered finger. $1 for a pizza is nothing to cry about so don’t get snappy and tip the damn man. Also the fact that toppings are available (at an extra $2 per topping) and there is a never ending supply of food for your increasing drunk appetite is something to be valued.

The entire atmosphere is incredibly comfortable and, if you’re there with the right people, like sitting around your living room eating pizza and enjoying a cool drink. After getting to know Hannah and Fred, our fantastic bartenders who treated us as old friends on our first visit, we realized this would be a place we would frequent; far too frequently.

Gazing into the TV screen ahead of us on SyFy channel playing some shitteous but far too enjoyable “goblin shark” made for TV drama and utter catastrophe of a film, we all realized as the subtitle scrolled “DRAMATIC MUSIC” that this was the time, the place, Crocodile Lounge was made for us.
