Went to check out the TV Dinner Thursdays at Grace Upstairs last night (its second week). For $20, the menu yesterday was roast beef wtih jus and mushrooms, mashed potatoes, organic carrots and peas, Yorkshire pudding and an apple crumble for dessert. There was also homemade horseradish that was to-die for.

The beef itself was extremely tender and so good. The only thing to keep in mind is that this isn't a Hungry-Man sized meal. It was a perfect portion for myself, but if I was someone with a big appetite I could probably pack away a bit more than what was served.

The vibe is really casual, you just head up to the bar, pay for your meal plus a drink if you desire, they hand you a tray, then you take it to the serving station where the Chef de Partie (Bryan Laver) will serve up your meal and engage in a friendly chat. In fact, while I was there I conducted a fun interview with Bryan and took pictures of the event and food for anyone who's interested:

The menu changes every week (they're continuing it all winter) and roast ham dinner, pork chops with mushroom gravy & biscuits will be on future menus. Bryan also mentioned they're hoping to perfect the Salisbury steak. Ha! Now that will be interesting. And thanks to gregclow for the heads up. There was a TV, this time showing M*A*S*H episodes. But the food was so good, TV was the last thing on my mind.-COLLAPSE
