good to know
The Red Stag takes the idea of the Upper Midwestern supper club into the 21st Century by combining classic, hearty local fare with haute cuisine twists. The place is Minnesota’s 1st and only LEED-certified restaurant, meaning its dedication to environmental principles is more than a marketing wrapper. But the food’s the thing; order the venison stroganoff or whole fried trout, and you won’t be disappointed.

»Best food I've eaten. (Sorry, mom.)
To start this off, let me say that I pride myself on knowing food and knowing it well. Not to be pompous or condescending but Chili's and such just aren't my cup o' tea, and I've been in the kitchen as long as I remember.

This place is just ridiculous. They know how to make every ingredient really sing and work with one another. The first time I went I had the whole fried trout. I thought it was certainly tasty - possibly the best trout I'd had - but I also sampled the meats others at my table were having and I must admit I was a little envious. The pork chop is bursting with flavor and done right (that is, left pink in the center). The steak is surreal. The duck I had tonight was succulent and flavorful as well. Best cheese curds you'll eat, and the smelt fries are scrumptious and served with sweet onion tartar sauce and their homemade smoked tomato ketchup that I will soon be attempting to buy by the barrel.
Yes, it's pricey but I have to say, this is the only place I would pay this much to eat at. I had the pleasure of meeting the head chef once and he seems as awesome as the food he cooks. What a fantastic job.-COLLAPSE
