Buck’s Fizz tail – the original Mimosa from 1921, named after a bar in London – made from orange juice, champagne and grenadine. Or the salami de biscuiti, a chocolate cake-like sweet.
Ion’s Cafe has a full bar, extensive prix-fixe ($14) brunch menu and free wi-fi. Ambiance is pleasant and immaculate, not overly trendy but slightly refined.
This cafe sits at the mouth of the Roosevelt Island Bridge, convenient for islanders as well as Astoria and Dutch Kills LIC residents. Although not very close to the subway – from N/W 36th Ave and F 21st it’s a 10-15 minute walk – you can get there by bus (Q102, Q103), bike or cab. Delivery is available only in immediate surrounding areas.
