We've lived in North Scarborough since the mid 80's and enjoy the predominately Asian cuisine so readily available in the area. However, we often want something special and different close-by for celebration type meals. In the early days, the Old Scott House near the Town Centre met our requirements and a roast beef meal was often our choice. Over the years, we also sampled Duncan House off Don Mills Road and even the old Devonshire House...now the site of Casa Imperial. Neither of those places bumped the Old Scott House as our favorite. However the place changed and we've stayed away in the later years. They have since been replaced by a member of the Baton Rouge chain and we tried that once and probably won't return very soon. I knew about The School and I could recall radio ads by Gord Stellick, but it just never occured to try this place out. I was also puzzled by the lack of profile on this board. Bottom-line, my wife and I have now found a place to replace the Old Scott House for "old school" fine dining in an elegant understated setting. My wife had the "Surf and Turf" and I had a small Sirloin. We also had calamari and oysters as appetizers. No drinks....bill came to just over $140 taxes included and before tips.-COLLAPSE / REPLY
