»Mediocre meal at Golden Turtle

I was in Ossington area on business around dinner time Friday and after business concluded, I thought I would treat myself to a meal at this restaurant where I have gone before.

I was in Ossington area on business around dinner time Friday and after business concluded, I thought I would treat myself to a meal at this restaurant where I have gone before.

It was a warm night and I didn't feel like having a bellyful of warm broth sloshing around. So I went to the "Chet's Specials" and chose a rice noodle and veggie/tofu mixture.

It arrived, and the first veggie I bit into was lukewarm. Then the next. The noodles underneath were hot enough. And as I worked across to the other end, the vegetables came up to a more cooked temperature.

Flavouring was nothing amazing. No fresh herbs beyond a couple of compulsory sprigs of coriander as side garnish. I could have gone and purchased "Easy Thai Meal At Home, Just Add Boiling Water and Your Own Meat and Vegetables" from my local Sobey's and gotten the same flavour sensations. The noodles from the store pack wouldn't have been as nice, mind.

I know that the specialty of the house is Pho. Then I say, don't offer things you aren't prepared to cook properly and focus on your taste winners. And don't put a dish this mediocre as a "Chef's Special".

Next time I walk south to their competitors.-COLLAPSE
