»Best Lobster in Town

The House of Chan is an institution for many families in Toronto. Kids remember going there for special occasions. Paying your own way is a right of passage. The baby back ribs is an excellent appetizer along with hot and sour soup and dynamite port super dynamite. New yorks or fillets are the way to go and ask for their cantonese sauce on the side for dipping.-COLLAPSE (by food4sport, created July 5, 2010)

7pm arrival allowed us to be seated promptly. Lots of buzz and a full restaurant. Decor was dingy, but there was an energy in the room that distracted us from this aspect. We were excited. Drink order came promptly. App was pork tenderloin and it was tasty. Wife could not decide on main so asked server for suggestion: cashew chicken. For me it was the ribeye medium rare. Took a conspicuous amount of time for mains to arrive. Steak came first. Clock ticking and steak getting cold. No chicken for my wife. Politely waiting came to frustration. Finally, Chicken came and accompanying rice a minute or two later. Very poorly coordinated without much care. Steak was good, but not great. Not a $40 piece of meat. The chicken dish was the most bland Asian cuisine we have ever had. Veggies were fresh but no flavour in dish (was there even sauce?). Dessert was nice: key lime pie from Florida. Not the best I've had, but a good one and good finish to a weak main course. Settling up was efficient, perhaps a little too much as the service staff tried to subtly accommodate those waiting for tables at the bar. Good, but not great and certainly not what we would expect for the price tag. We will not likely return.-COLLAPSE
