good to know
Hayley and I stumbled across this place today while looking for a breakfast joint. The huevos rancheros was huge, spicy, and fragrant with sunny side eggs on a crispy tortilla smothered in just right spicy red sauce. Beans and rice were perfect and the hand made flour tortillas were rich and chewy and almost a meal in themselves. Hayley’s huevos Mexicana was a perfect blend of egg, pepper, onion and tomatoes. The halapenos were pungent without overwhelming heat. To wash this down we ordered orange juice for three dollars a pop. I watched our server as she cut and hand squeezed oranges into two HUGE tumblers. One half of one serving of that much fresh juice would be 17 dollars 2 miles away in Beverly Hills. But the topper was the tortilla chips and are the key to why Hayley and I are going back to try dinner tomorrow night. The chips were drizzled with the most heavenly mole sauce I’ve ever tasted. I’ve read many times about the “magical mole sauce” in reviews extolling Huaxacan food and every time I have tried it I have been bitterly disappointed. I just didn’t get it. Until this morning I found myself licking the chips platter. I’m going back SCM.
