My fiancee and I thought we had exhausted the weekly line-up of Duane Park’s performances from burlesque, to live music, etc. The other night we were treated to the newest trick up their sleeve: opera. That’s right, opera. We were hesitant when first informed of the planned performance. I envisioned large women, belting out full bodied arias that echoed off the walls and shattered stemware. How wrong I was. The youthful selection of singers graced the stage and moved about the dining room floor clad in elegant gowns. Each of the three singers performed a short aria, and then took a 20-25 minute break before singing their second and final pieces.

The pacing was perfect. The performances were unobtrusive, pleasant and refreshing. My perspective on the genre completely changed.

Per usual, we were treated to an exellent meal (they had a beet fettucci special that was AMAZING), and friendly, attentive service as we found ourselves lost in the lively and, at times, haunting beauty of the performances.

Go!

Tribeca now has a restaurant that gives first rate service and pays attention to the food. I've sampled everything on the menu and have not been disappointed at all. Their pork chops deserve particular attention as they are the best I've ever had. The restaurant has a very mellow vibe, despite the elegance. The waitstaff is most attentive, and satisfies your every need. Whenever I'm in town, I...+READ Tribeca now has a restaurant that gives first rate service and pays attention to the food. They have awesome entertainment 3-4 nights a week, and the entertainment is free with the meal. Duane Park is very easy on the pocketbook with two of us getting out of there for underd $200 with wine and tip. The bar section is one of the friendliest bars in the Tribeca area, and the bartenders are very knowledgeable and friendly. Whenever I go back to Manhattan, which is frequently, Duane Park is my first choice,-COLLAPSE (by watsurf, updated October 8, 2009)
