»Groveland Tap, St. Paul, returned to its former glory perhaps?
Had a pretty solid lunch at the Tap. I've been down on them the past couple of years because they'd changed from their former bar menu to a pretentious "upscale" menu. The food just wasn't good. The worst was the deconstructed bleu cheese burger salad.

ANYWAY, my husband dragged me there recently because the Nook looked packed. We were pleasantly surprised to find another "new" (to us, anyway) menu, though I really have no idea how long this menu has been in place since I've had a personal boycott going for at least a year, maybe two.
It's not the same menu, but solidly a bar menu again. No indication of any "sustainable" sourcing going on that I could tell. Good list of tap beer (a half dozen plus Summit; a couple Surly, etc.) 34 in total apparently.
We tried the(Canadian) smelt fry special (the specials change "frequently" according to their website, whereas in the past there was a static menu of daily specials), which were accompanied by a generous pile of thin, crisp housemade chips. Also, the juicy lucy, thick and still a little pink inside. Fries were meh.
Sweet potato tater tots, poutine, pasties, sausage & cheese bread all sounded tempting. I wish they'd bring back the portobello burger. The pierogy are gone too.
Still family friendly with the box o' toys, jukebox, pool table, video games, and TVs. Also, sidewalk seating.
Nothing spectacular, just a good neighborhood joint. We'll be back!
