INGREDIENTS
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons maple syrup
  • About 1/2 pound bacon
INSTRUCTIONS
  1. Heat the oven to 350°F and arrange a rack in the middle.
  2. Mix together the brown sugar and maple syrup in a medium bowl; set aside.
  3. Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil and arrange the bacon strips side by side. Using a pastry brush, evenly coat both sides of the bacon with the sugar-syrup mixture. Cook until the bacon looks caramelized, about 20 minutes. Let cool for 15 minutes before serving.

I made this last weekend and it was excellent. I had one issue with the recipe: the syrup brown sugar mixture was VERY thick and difficult to spread on the bacon strips. Any tips on how to get around that? I was considering spreading on the maple and sprinkling the sugar on top, but am concerned that they will not combine as well.

I've made this before, but I sprinkle on some freshly ground black pepper! Delish.
