Pulled Pork Sandwiches Recipe
One weekend I started craving Pulled Pork Sandwiches. I had never made them before in my life, but realized that if you had a few key steps in place it’s one of the most satisfying dishes I’ve made before. Using a pressure cooker saves a ton of time but you can just as easily use a crock pot on low for an entire day.
- 1 pork shoulder
- 1/2 dry rub - equal parts chili powder, salt, pepper, cumin, brown sugar, corriander, dry mustard, oregano, garlic powder
- 1 beer or 1 cup of white wine
- 1 cup of chicken or beef stock
- 1/2 jalapeno
- 4 garlic cloves, smashed
- 1/2 onion, cut into 4 pieces
- Coat the entire pork shoulder with the rub and let come to room temperature.
- Use a pressure cooker, it will save you a ton of time. First sear the meat in another heavy bottomed pot, and then transfer to the pressure cooker . Add the beer, onion, jalapeno and garlic. Turn heat to low and cook the pork shoulder for an hour or until the pork is fork tender.
- Take out of the pressure cooker, let cool and rest for 20 minutes. Shred the pork with forks.
- In a sauce pan, heat up your homemade BBQ sauce (or store bought) and add the shredded pork. Let cook in BBQ sauce for 5-10 minutes on low. Serve with toasted buns, coleslaw and cilantro.
