Bourbon Old Fashioned Milk Shake Recipe
We’ve gotten all heretical and combined the flavors of an Old Fashioned cocktail with ice cream to make a shake. It’s not too sweet, with lots of bourbon and orange zest coming through, and a few bits of cherries. In other words, it’s not kid-friendly.
What to buy: Luxardo maraschino cherries work best in this recipe, but if you can’t find them, use any quality brand, such as Tillen Farms. Or you could make your own!
This recipe was featured as part of our story on Boozy Cocktail Milk Shakes.
- 1 (14-ounce) container vanilla ice cream
- 2 dashes angostura bitters
- 2 maraschino cherries, such as Luxardo, plus more for garnish
- 3/4 teaspoon orange zest (from 1 medium orange)
- 2 ounces bourbon
An entire container of ice cream for a single drink? Is the goal here to have a nice beverage or to become amazingly fat? Even Paula Deen's vanilla milkshake recipe calls for only 1 cup of ice cream per serving.
