Ginger Lemon Vermoncktail Recipe

Difficulty: Easy | Total Time: 4 hours | Active Time: | Makes: 2 cocktails

I made up this drink when I had a pile of ginger peels lying around and I used them instead of ginger pieces. Then the 1/2 gallon of maple syrup we’d just bought called to me…

INGREDIENTS
  • 4 shots (1/2 c +) vodka
  • 1 piece ginger (peeling unnecessary if washed)
  • 1/2 lemon
  • 2 T+ good (ie Vermont) maple syrup
  • Ginger ale
  • Ice
INSTRUCTIONS
  1. Chop ginger and let it soak in vodka for at least 4 hours. The smaller the pieces and the longer it soaks, the spicier it will be. If you slice it into disks, smash them with the end of a heavy knife to break them up a bit and release more flavor.
  2. Squeeze 1/2 a lemon into the ginger vodka, stir and strain.
  3. Using fork or small whisk, pour and mix in the maple syrup. A shaker would probably work too.
  4. Divide the mixture into two glasses filled with ice and top with ginger ale. I preferred 2 parts vodka mix to 1 part ginger ale. Enjoy!
