"Mainland-style" Ahi (Yellowfin Tuna) Poke Recipe

By Clinton
Difficulty: Easy | Active Time: |

Using the typical available ingredients one can find here outside of the Hawaiian Islands (mainly on the US west coast), this modified recipe version is what I came up with. Ogo or Hawaiian-grown seaweed (either wild or farm-raised) can be purchased at most Marukai Markets or any others that import items from the islands. Marukai typically receives shipments on Fridays is what I was told. The rest of the ingredients are available at mainstream stores or supermarkets and found in the Asian sections.

INGREDIENTS
  • 1 lb. cubed Ahi Tuna
  • 1/2 C. chopped Ogo Limu (Hawaiian Seaweed)
  • 1 Tblsp. Dark Sesame Oil
  • 3 - 4 stalks chopped Green Onions
  • 2 Tblsp. Soy Sauce
  • 1 Tblsp. toasted Sesame Seeds
  • 1 tsp. Red Chili Flakes
INSTRUCTIONS
  1. Cut ahi into bite-sized cubes. Mix ingredients and refrigerate.
