5 minute Teriyaki Chicken! Recipe

Difficulty: Easy | Total Time: 5 minutes | Makes: 2 servings

I’ve taken this from my favourite website SumoKitchen.com which is run by a good friend of mine. I love the recipe because it’s SO easy, and super fast – less than 5 minutes! Plus, it’s healthy, cheap and above all so delicious! Everyone loves teriyaki chicken, so have a go and don’t forget to visit sumokitchen.com for more of the same.

INGREDIENTS
  • 1 chicken breast or thigh (250g)
  • 2tbs soy sauce
  • 2tbs sugar
  • 2tbs sake
  • 2tbs mirin
  • 2tbs water
  • potato starch
INSTRUCTIONS
  1. Cut the chicken into bite-sized portions, then add to a plastic bag and add a few tea spoons of potato starch and shake to cover the chicken well.
  2. Mix all the sauce ingredients together.
  3. Fry the chicken in a little oil, then mop up the excess with a sheet of kitchen paper. Then add the sauce and fry gently until it becomes sticky and coats the chicken well.

Amazing. The best recipe, it worked so well and can be Gluten Free (GF) if I use GF soy sauce - so easy, an absolute cracker! I had to make GF Sushi, so I made the Teriyaki Chicken GF and then put it in the sushi rolls! We all loved it, even those who are not GF. Thank you for keeping it all so simple. (I substituted Red wine for the Saki as I had some in the cupboard. I bought everything else at our local Coles.)

Both take longer than 5 minutes the first time, but if you cook it a lot and keep the ingredients close at hand, it IS almost an instant meal!
