Diki Diki Recipe
John Gertsen, bar manager of Drink in Boston, gave us the recipe for this vintage cocktail that’s sweet, smoky, and dry all at once.
What to buy: Swedish Punch (a.k.a. Caloric Punch, Caloric Punsch, Arak Punch, Arrack Punch, Arak Punsch, and Arrack Punsch) is a smoky Swedish liqueur with Batavia arrack as its base.
This recipe was featured as part of our New Year’s Eve Speakeasy Party.
- 2 ounces apple brandy, such as Calvados
- 1/2 ounce Swedish Punch
- 1/2 ounce freshly squeezed grapefruit juice
- Fill a cocktail shaker halfway with ice. Add all ingredients and shake vigorously until well chilled, about 20 seconds. Strain into a cocktail glass.
This recipe, while from a trusted source, may not have been tested by the CHOW food
team.
What a heavenly picture! I love tracking down fanciful booze for cocktails. My current favorite is Aperol. I'm going to be on the look-out for Swedish Punch, now!
You can make your own using Batavia Arrack which Haus Alpenz imports this into the country (and in the near future, Swedish Punsch as well). The recipe I use is from Erik Ellestad of Underhill Lounge blog (I cut it down by 4-fold which makes about 800 mL):

Hi Pei,
We were able to find it in San Francisco at K&L Imports, and Beverages & More may sometimes have it.

Where does one find Swedish punch, on line or in the Bay Area?
The Chow link leads to a site that says "Made in Sweden. Limited production. Rarely exported." :(
