The Capitol Cherry Fizz Recipe

I love the flavor of tart-sweet dried cherries in autumn. When was invited to showcase my book The Bubbly Bar and make a cocktail at Tour de Champagne in Washington DC, I decided to create a seasonal sparkling cocktail that was a tribute to the city’s iconic cherry trees.

INGREDIENTS
  • 1/2 ounce Cherry Heering liqueur
  • 1/2 ounce cognac
  • 4 ounces brut champagne or sparkling wine, chilled
  • brandy-soaked or Italian marasca cherry, for garnish
INSTRUCTIONS
  1. Add the Cherry Heering liqueur and cognac to a champagne flute.
  2. Top with the chilled brut sparkling wine or champagne.
  3. Drop a brandy soaked or Italian marasca cherry in the glass and serve.
