The Fedora Recipe
Not a classic cocktail by any means, this concoction is one we’d add to the list of Prohibition-era drinks if only we could rewrite history.
This recipe was featured as part of our Sexy Vampire Halloween Party photo gallery.
INGREDIENTS
- 1 1/2 ounces single-malt Scotch
- 1 ounce amaretto
- 1 ounce freshly squeezed orange juice
- Ice
- Lemon wedge
INSTRUCTIONS
- Combine Scotch, amaretto, and orange juice in a shaker filled halfway with ice cubes. Stir vigorously for 20 seconds. Strain over a large shard of ice into a rocks glass. Squeeze juice from the lemon wedge into the cocktail and serve.
I used Dewer's, Simply Orange, and Disarrono for this for my Halloween party and it was a big hit.
Just had these at a fellow chowhounder's birthday party. They used a blended scotch. This drink was delicious, though. Not too sweet and packing a whollop!
Agreed.
i wouldn't waste a good single malt on this. I'd be more inclined to use a blend (Dewars, Famous Grouse, etc.)
All the sweetness and orange juice would seem to overwhelm the scotch.
