Lambic Sangría Recipe

Lambic Sangría
Difficulty: Easy | Total Time: | Makes: 8 to 10 drinks

Sangría is the resident punch of summertime, but made with cheap red wine and even cheaper brandy it’s bound to fall flat. Breathe new life into this classic with raspberry-laced lambic and refreshing Belgian ale.

What to buy: Framboise lambic is an ale flavored with raspberries instead of hops and can be found in most grocery and liquor stores.

Hoegaarden white ale is a smooth, refreshing wheat beer from Belgium. It can be found in most grocery and liquor stores.

This recipe was featured as part of both our Summer Fruit Cocktails and Punch Recipes photo galleries.

made it for a game night 2 weeks ago - wow - it was a BIG hit - mixed a double batch in a gallon pickle jar - filled it up and it was gone in no time - next day, the raspberries were wonderful!

Around here, that's a Dirty Ho with Lillet and fruit added. You can get the Framboise/Hoegaarden mix at any Belgian bar.

This was hit when I made it for a party. A bit expensive but unique.

What are you supposed to do with the raspberries, just mix them in whole?

  • Lillet Blanc? Really Lillet Blanc? Have we been watching James Bond movies?Or maybe you're a fan of Hanibal Lechter? It was his favorite tipple.

  • Glass optional, just pass me the pitcher.

  • Honestly this recipe strikes me as a mess and a waste of good beer.

  • One issue: only Lindemann's Framboise is sweet enough to allow you to forego added sugar. If you use, say, Boone, Hansen's, or Cantillion, you'll wind up with a very tart result (especially the latter two). For a more full-bodied effect, swap in some Saison (any brand) for some of the Hoegaarden. Just definitely don't use hoppy beer, which will add unwanted bitterness.
