I got this recipe from my room mother the first year I was teaching third grade. I have been making it ever since. It is the most requested family recipe by my grown children. The recipe is also on a website at http://www.chocolate-addiction.com/chocolate-butterfingers.html.

  • 6 cups Rice Krispies
  • 1 cup creamy peanut buttter
  • 1 cup Karo syrup
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 12 ounces of semi-sweet chocolate chips

INSTRUCTIONS
  1. Add peanut butter, Karo syrup, and sugar to a large pan. Mix well. Heat over low heat until the sugar dissolves.
  2. Stir in 6 cups Rice Krispies. Then shape into 2-3 inch finger shapes. Refrigerate for an hour.
  3. Meanwhile melt chocolate chips and parafin in the top of a double boiler.
  1. Insert a wooden skewer into each of the fingers. Dip in the melted chocolate. Cool on wax paper until set.
