Mexican Standoff Recipe
We did this variant of a classic Tequila drink, but used Sub Rosa Spirits’ Saffron vodka. We dusted the cocktail with powdered chipotle to bring out the smoky nature of the toasted cumin in the Saffron vodka and to echo the heat in the bit of cayenne used in the Saffron vodka.
- 1 1/2 oz Sub Rosa Saffron vodka
- 3 oz pineapple juice
- 1/2 oz Cointreau or Patron Citronge orange liqueur
- splash of lime juice
- Chipotle powder
- Pour the Saffron vodka, pineapple juice and a dash of lime juice into a highball glass half filled with ice cubes, and stir well.
- Drop the orange liqueur into the center of the drink.
- Dust with chipotle powder and serve.
- We’ve also made this into a martini like drink and used made a sugar/chipotle rim.
