Spicy Chocolate Cookies Recipe
Reminiscent of a spiced Mexican hot chocolate and with relatively few ingredients and very few steps, these cookies are easy, quick, delicious and have a unique heat. Plus they’re egg-free so you can eat the dough with no worries.
- 1 1/2 cups flour
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/2 sticks unsalted butter
- 3/4 cups unsweetened cocoa
- 1/4 tsp salt
- a big pinch of finely ground black pepper
- a big pinch of cayenne
- 3/4 tsp cinnamon (optional)
- Preheat oven to 350
- Mix all of the ingredients in a bowl with your hands for 5 minutes
- Place the dough over a sheet of wax paper, and use the paper to roll the dough into a log
- Unroll the wax paper, and cut off 1/4" pieces of dough with a knife
- Bake on a lightly greased cookie sheet for 5 minutes, then turn them over and cook for another 5 minutes
- Cool and serve

I used a whole stick of butter and it was still a crumbly mess.
I'm dying to make these, but I agree with hagwoodam - is something missing?
No way 1/2 a stick of butter is enough for that amount of dry ingredients-- should it have been 1 and 1/2 sticks? Or is another wet ingredient possibly missing?
Ooooh, spicy chocolate! I don't bake, but this gets my vote!
