Sounds great
Does anyone know where to find this Major Grey's Chutney? or if there are any substitutes for it?

(I live in Manhattan..!)

Thank you!

#1 the amount of scallions is "1/4 cup" which the recipe shortens to "/4" #2 Major Grey is a formulation of chutney (a stayle), not a brand name. Several companies produce it. The Silver Palat version is very good should you strike out. #3 the amount of seasoning in this dish is substantial -- 2 Tablespoons of salt and 1 Tablespoons Tabasco -- for example. Has anyone actually prepared the dish and can comment?

It is 4 lbs of ground turkey so how you spice the recipe is to your taste. I myself would leave out the salt .

Here is a recipe for Major Gray Chutney to make at home if you can't find it.
Mango Chutney (Major Grey’s Chutney)

2 1/2 cups diced mangos
1 (1-inch) piece peeled fresh ginger
1 hot pepper, minced
1 clove garlic, minced
1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
1/2 cup cider vinegar
1/2 cup firmly packed light brown sugar
1/2 cup raisins
Freshly ground black pepper
Place all ingredients in a saucepan. Bring to a boil, reduce heat to low, and simmer until thick, about 25 minutes, stirring often to keep from sticking. Let cool. Store in an airtight container.

my friend used a random fig preserve and said it was fantastic!

I made this recipe, and it was SOO good, except that it was too salty, and a bit too spicy for my husband. I for one always try new recipes as written even if I think they might be wrong (especially one with such rave reviews), but next time (tomorrow, actually!) I am going to drop the salt down to 2 tsp, and I am going to use 1/2 Major Gray's chutney (a little spicy), and 1/2 sweet mango chutney, and cut back a bit on the chipotle Tabasco sauce to decrease the heat. The chutney "sauce" is good enough to eat alone, also. GOOD STUFF!
