Po' Man's Bibimbap (or Essentially Egg on Rice) Recipe
Inspired by the Korean dish, and inspired is really used loosely here. You can goose this recipe up several ways. One way is a fry up some veggies in oil, garlic and ginger, maybe toss in some marinated thin strips of beef, chicken, or tofu. You can class up this dish real easy, or make it totally no frills like I’ll show here.
- 1 Egg (per person)
- 1 Teaspoon of Oil
- 1 Serving of Cooked Rice (or left over rice from Chinese Take-Out)
- Soy Sauce
- (Optional) Seasame Seeds or Tarako Furikake (Which is like Dried Nori, Seasame Seeds, and Miscellaneous Seasoning) for garnishing
- Cook up some rice, or re-heat some old rice if that’s your situation
- Heat up pan, add oil, and fry egg sunny side up.
- (Optional) Sprinkle on the Seasame Seeds or the Tarako Furikake (I happen to have this lying around) on the warmed rice.
- Slap the egg on the rice, add soy sauce according to your tastes.

I agree with weebles. You gotta add some spice and flavor before you can call it Bibimbap. Where is the kimchi???
As a kid, my parents hired a nanny who didn't know how to cook and because of that, this is what I used eat all the time. (Despite the fact that my mom would leave a lot of other ingredients in the fridge) While it might not be for everyone, this is one of my ultimate comfort foods!! I always add some sesame oil though.
this isn't really a recipe...i'm all for simple recipes but a key component to bi bim bap is flavor...you would definitely need some goe chu chang (red pepper paste) or at least a little bit of sesame oil to make it even partly resemble something korean. soy sauce + rice = gross
