Hamburger Helper Helper Recipe
Single parenting time and money efficiency needs inspired this one.
- frozen lb of ground beef, pre-cooked
- Any boxed dish requiring a lb of ground beef
- The following assumes that some day when you came home from grocery shopping, having purchased a 5 lb (or larger) chub of ground beef, you broke it into bits and placed it on a broiler pan and broiled until cooked well. The fat drained into the pan below through the slats. You then divided your cooked 5 lb chub into 5 roughly equal parts & packaged each into a zip lock sandwich bag and froze it.
- Need a meal in a dash? Put one of the frozen ground beef packages in a covered casserole dish with contents of a Hamburger Helper entree (or just about anything requiring a lb of ground beef) and water as needed.
- Hit the appropriate number of minutes on your microwave panel.
- Stir and enjoy!

But when I DO make it I doctor it up quite a bit. I teased him that if he ever were to have another wife, her hamburger helper will taste awful because he is used to mine and has no idea what I do to it....+READ

But when I DO make it I doctor it up quite a bit. I teased him that if he ever were to have another wife, her hamburger helper will taste awful because he is used to mine and has no idea what I do to it. Generally I start by sauteing an onion in olive oil and then proceed to add tomatoes or green pepper depending on the type of helper it is. And I add lots of garlic, black pepper, etc. I do the same with Zatarin's boxed meals.-COLLAPSE
At the risk of sounding like a snob...I don't touch Hamburger Helper because that stuff is just waaaaay too wicked salty.
By the way, you do need to remove the ground beef from it's bag prior to adding it to your entree, just in case you wondered!
